Senator Capitio Visits the Eastern Panhandle

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — U.S. Senator Shelly Moore Capitio toured the Eastern Panhandle Monday before returning to Washington this week.

Capitio got an up close look at the many projects and development in the area including the Fairfax Boulevard Project in Ranson and the road project on I-81.

Capitio tells WEPM News that the Ranson Mayor deserves credit as the project is coming along nicely.

“The city of Ranson has great vision,” said Capitio. “Mayor Pierson has been a great leader and if you haven’t seen it, you need to drive past Fairfax Boulevard.”

Ranson mayor, Keith Pierson, says that everyone has been pleased by the project and just only himself and Capitio.

”She took her on a driving tour of that road and she was very satisfied just as the residents are and myself,” said Pierson. “This turned out to be a wonderful project.”

Capitio also got a look at the Day Report Centers in Berkeley and Jefferson County which are helping residents affected by the drug epidemic. Capitio held a drug summit in Martinsburg two years ago and she said that the centers are a big help but there is still much work to be done.
