MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — An accident in front of the intersection of West King Street and Old Mill Road in Martinsburg had the road leading towards North 81 shut down due to a turned over vehicle.

According to sources at the scene, a white Buick Rendezvous was turning onto West King Street from Old Mill road and attempted to turn into the BP gas station on Viking Way when it clipped the back of a maroon Hyundai Elantra that was exiting out of the Sheetz parking lot across the street from the BP, causing it to turn over on its hood.

Martinsburg Police Officer Mike Jones tells WEPM News that the insurance companies will handle the legal ramifications once they receive his report.

“I’ll let the insurance companies make the decision when they get my report and the statements from both drivers,” said Jones.

Traffic was shut down for about an hour as a tow truck was able to haul the Elantra away and cleanup crews cleared the wreckage.

The names of the drivers were not released and there were no injuries reported at the scene.
