WASHINGTON, D.C. — Earlier this year American Mothers Incorporated named Boys & Girls Club of the Eastern Panhandle Director Stacie Rohn as the West Virginia Mother of the Year for 2017.

Rohn is in Washington, D.C. for an annual national conference representing West Virginia.

Rohn said last month the greatest honor was even being nominated by her daughter, Becca.

“It’s neat to see how we’ve grown through the years,” Rohn told WEPM News.

Rohn said being nominated made her think of those who have lost a child, especially to the heroin epidemic.

She  said there’s no secret formula to parenting, and a lot of it comes down to one thing.

“We all go into it thinking ‘How do we do the best job we can with what we have,’ and really a lot of times it’s luck. I say a wing and a prayer.”

Ultimately Rebecca Latham of New Mexico was named national mother of the year.

American Mothers is celebrating its 82nd year of nationally honoring motherhood. They are most known for educating on issues impacting mothers and children at home, work, and in the world.
