Gov. Justice signs higher education reform bill

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — West Virginia Governor Jim Justice made an appearance on the campus of West Virginia University today to sign a higher education reform bill.

House Bill 2815 will give area universities greater flexibility and preserves the Higher Education Policy Commission to oversee statewide higher education policy initiatives.

WVU President E. Gordon Gee says the bill will make higher education in the state a place for opportunity.

“This bill represents an opportunity for higher education to take a leadership role in making this state nore only a place of dreams and hope but a place for opportunity,” said Gee.

The governor was joined by Gee, Marshall University President Dr. Jerome Gilbert and West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine President Dr. Michael Adelman when he signed the bill.
