North Carolina man found guilty on all counts in homicide of Hedgesville woman

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — A North Carolina man was found guilty Thursday afternoon by a jury in Berkeley County, W.Va., of felony murder and related charges in the July 2015 slaying of a Hedgesville, W.Va.-area woman.

39-year-old James Love Senior, also was convicted of one count of assault during the commission of a felony and three counts of fraudulent use of an access device in connection with the July 2, 2015, death of 52-year-old Tracey Leigh McCauley.

The Herald Mail says the jury deliberated for about two hours and attached mercy to the murder conviction, which will allow Love to possibly be considered for parole after serving 15 years of a life sentence.

The jurors’ verdict was read by a deputy circuit clerk.

Post-trial motions and Love’s sentencing hearing were scheduled for June 26 by 23rd Judicial Circuit Judge Michael D. Lorensen.
