MARTINSBURG, W.Va. —  A Macy’s spokesperson has announced that “limited operations” resumed at the company’s Martinsburg fulfillment center Monday evening following a weekend fire.

“First and foremost, we are thankful that all of our Macy’s colleagues are safe and accounted for, with no injuries,” said Andrea Schwartz.  “Also, we are grateful for the ongoing support and partnership of the local authorities and community.”

Full shifts of employees resumed normal operations at 6 Tuesday morning.

The state Fire Marshal’s Office has yet to determine the cause of Saturday’s blaze.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — An official with one of Berkeley County’s largest distribution centers says operations have ceased due to damages from a weekend blaze.

Around 1,000 employees were evacuated from the building at 333 Caperton Boulevard around 8 Saturday evening, according to dispatchers. Fire crews from Hedgesville and Martinsburg responded to the 2 million square foot facility.

It remains unclear how much of the building or how many packages were damaged in the fire. The building’s sprinkler system was activated.

Macy’s spokesperson Andrea Schwartz confirmed nobody was injured. The blaze comes during the busiest online shopping period of the year and just a couple of days prior to Cyber Monday.

“As we continue to assess the potential impact to our (West Virginia) center, we have other fulfillment options, including multiple mega centers across the country, to serve our customers,” said Schwartz.
