INWOOD, W.Va. — Eastern Panhandle residents on I-81 had a tough morning commute following a tractor trailer crash and fuel spill.

WVDOT officials confirm the truck hit a barrier wall at mile marker 8 at around 12:30 Tuesday morning. This is near the Tabler Station Road interchange.

Fuel has been spilled and a hazmat team remains on scene. All northbound traffic is being diverted off of I-81 at the Inwood interchange (exit 5).

MetroNews affiliate WEPM’s Marsha Chwalik reported at 7:20 am that U.S. Route 11, which runs parallel to I-81 between Inwood and Martinsburg, was “a parking lot”.
