UPDATE: Arrests made in connection to Maryland man found dead in Berkeley County

HAGERSTOWN, Md. — Police confirm multiple arrests have been made in connection to the murder of a Hagerstown man found dead in Berkeley County in January.

Antonio Arana, 19 of Jefferson, Maryland.

The Hagerstown Police Department worked alongside numerous agencies across Maryland, DC and Florida to bring three people into custody in the death of Christopher Turner, 27 of Hagerstown. All were arrested on February 17:

  • Antonio Arana, 19 of Jefferson, Maryland. Taken into custody in Frederick, Maryland. Being held without bond in the Washington County Detention Center.
  • Dakota Paugh, 18 of Hagerstown, Maryland. Arrested in Washington, DC. Currently awaiting extradition.
  • Erica Earl, 21 of Hagerstown, Maryland. Caught in Jacksonville, Florida. Currently awaiting extradition.

All three are charged with first and second degree murder, first and second degree assault, armed robbery, robbery and numerous firearm violations.

Hagerstown Police said the investigation is ongoing.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Police confirm a missing man from Hagerstown, Maryland has been found dead in a remote area of Berkeley County.

According to the Hagerstown Police Department, a report was filed on January 23 for 27 year-old Christopher Turner. He was last heard from by his family on Sunday, January 20.

“Throughout the investigation numerous people have been interviewed and many leads have been followed. Through tips received by the police department we were able to locate his vehicle in the west end of Hagerstown on Thursday, January 24, 2019. Area allied agencies were made aware of the case and have been provided information throughout the investigation.”

The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department notified Hagerstown Police on Wednesday that a body was found near Buck Hill Road. The road runs between the communities of Gerrardstown and Shanghai.

The body was taken to the state Medical Examiner’s Office in Charleston where it was positively identified as Turner. Police confirm they are investigating the case as a homicide.

“The manner and condition in which the body was found indicates murder,” said a Thursday press release.
