MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — A woman wanted in connection with a 2016 Berkeley County
murder has been arrested by U.S. Marshals in New Orleans.
On Oct. 18, Dominique Perry was indicted, by a Berkeley County grand jury on two counts of
accessory after the fact to first-degree murder. The alleged murder occurred in August 2016.
Her co-defendant, 33-year-old Derrick Wayne Wells, Jr. of Hagerstown, Maryland, formerly of Brooklyn, New York, was charged with two counts of First Degree Murder and two counts of Use of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony in connection to the August, 2016 homicides of Ahmid Hafley and Alquadir Sutton.
In August of 2016, Martinsburg Police identified a 22-year-old man whose body was found near P.O. Faulkner Park with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body as Alquadir Sutton.
The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office said Ahmid Hafley, 23, was found just before 10:00 Friday morning at L & H Storage in the 3100 block of Shepherdstown Road.
Hafley had been charged in connection with the June 16 multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 81 that resulted in the death of one man and injuries to 13 other people.
Dominique L. Perry, 25 of Los Angeles, California, was subsequently charged with two counts of Accessory After the Fact to First Degree Murder. This matter was originally investigated by the Detective Bureau of the Martinsburg Police Dept. with assistance from the CID Section of the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Dept. The investigation continued with cooperation from the Berkeley County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
The Berkeley County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office tells The Panhandle News Network that Wells is in the custody of the Eastern Regional Jail and was arraigned on November 18, 2022 before the Hon. Judge Michael Lorensen in the Circuit Court of Berkeley County. Pre-trial and Trial dates were selected with trial being set for April 11, 2023. Ms. Perry will be arraigned before Judge Lorensen upon her extradition from Louisiana.
On Dec. 6, Perry was apprehended in New Orleans without incident and is
awaiting extradition back to West Virginia.
