Snow, cold temperatures will make it a rough evening commute

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — A band of snow could create a troublesome evening commute Tuesday.

Accuweather predicts about an inch of snow could call across the eastern panhandle as temperatures drop into the teens.

“Bottom line, by the time we’re driving home this evening and temperatures begin to fall, we need to be a little careful on bridges and overpasses and especially overnight tonight. We’re getting into the 20’s and teens. We’re forecasting a low of 18 by tomorrow (Wednesday) morning.”

Temperatures Wednesday aren’t expected to get above freezing, with a high of only 26 in the forecast.

“This is kind of the appetizer of the polar vortex here later today as these temperatures drop. It gets colder tomorrow and Thursday. We will only top out in the mid 20s for tomorrow. We’ll see temperatures in the single digits tomorrow night and then Thursday, we’ll be lucky if we make it into the low 20’s. So that is quite cold for this part of the country.”
