PSC approves pipeline plan to include extension from Martinsburg to Charles Town

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The West Virginia Public Service Commission approved a $119.8 million plan allowing Mountaineer Gas Company to complete infrastructure replacements and upgrades through 2023.

Included in that plan is $16.5 million to expand and enhance service through Morgan, Berkeley and Jefferson Counties. This will allow for future expansion of an existing pipeline between Martinsburg and Charles Town.

The pipeline would service the Rockwool insulation plant in Jefferson County, which continues to spur debate among concerned residents.

The approved plan does not include approximately $4.1 million in costs for the IREP (Infrastructure Replacement and Expansion Program) surcharge rate.

The Public Service Commission also announced that existing Mountaineer Gas customers will see a bill increase by 94 cents per month.

More information on the Public Service Commission’s order can be found on their website.
