P&G adds to product line in Martinsburg

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — The Procter & Gamble facility being built in Berkeley County has announced a new brand to their manufacturing line up.

Along with well known P&G brands like Bounce, Old Spice and Pantene the facility will make Swiffer Products.

U.S. Senator Joe Manchin called the announcement welcome news for the Mountain State, saying the manufacturing jobs will carry the state’s economy forward.

It’s bad news for employees in Brockville, Ontario though, where P&G announced they’ll be closing a large plant and moving production to West Virginia in late 2020 or early 2021.

Jeff LeRoy, Associate Director, Media Relations & Social Media, said the addition of Swiffer products does not change their projections for employment numbers.

The company anticipates hiring 700 people by the time the plant is fully operational.

Procter & Gamble broke ground the new multi-category facility in the Tabler Station Industrial Park in 2015.

It’s the company’s first new U.S. manufacturing plant since the 1970s.
