Pedestrian struck and killed by vehicle near Charles Town

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. — Multiple agencies are investigating a crash that claimed the life of a pedestrian in Jefferson County.

Charles Town Police responded to the 9 mile-marker of U.S. Route 340 at around 5:15 Saturday morning. Upon arrival, they found a man dead on the road.

A preliminary investigation has revealed a vehicle traveling southbound struck the man. The southbound lanes were shut down for an extended period of time as police conducted their investigation.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and Ranson Police Department assisted.

The man’s identity has yet to be released by authorities.
