MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Hundreds of Martinsburg Residents lined the streets downtown Tuesday evening for the annual Christmas Parade.

The event was rescheduled from Saturday due to rainy weather. Despite the temps in the 30’s, many people were in attendance to take part in the holiday fun.

John from Martinsburg told WEPM he is glad that the parade was postponed so he could carry on his families tradition.

“Tradition and family,” he said. “My mom did it. My grandma did it for me. And I’m doing the same for my kids.”

The parade was highlighted by live bands, Christmas music, muscle cars, treats for kids, and an appearance by the 3-peat AAA-state football champion Martinsburg Bulldogs.

An added bonus to the festivities, for students at least, was knowing that it wasn’t a school night as all West Virginia schools would be closed Wednesday in observance of the life of former President George H.W. Bush who passed away over the weekend.
