Martinsburg Police, State Police join South Middle students for basketball tournament

Martinsburg Police, West Virginia State Police with Martinsburg South Middle School students.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Nine Martinsburg Police Department Officers and West Virginia State Police Troopers teamed up with 14 South Middle School students for a Saturday basketball tournament.

The tournament was divided into four teams as part of the New Life Community Church’s “Intervene 2019” program. Through this initiative, the Inwood-based church gathered 500 volunteers to help with school beautification, repair and landscaping projects through five schools.

In addition to South Middle, schools include Martinsburg High, Hedgesville High, Inwood Primary and Pikeside Learning Center.

At Saturday’s tournament, church volunteers provided hot dogs, popcorn, chips and drinks.
