Martinsburg man charged with arson after series of early morning fires

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — A Martinsburg man is behind bars after he allegedly set multiple fires this morning.

Martinsburg Police responded to the 800 and 900 blocks of Foxcroft Avenue at around 3 am after calls that multiple fires had been intentionally set.

Officers found two vehicles on fire in the Hampton Inn parking lot. Dumpsters at Ruby Tuesday’s and MyEyeDoctor were also on fire.

An officer was extinguishing a fire set to cardboard boxes near Walmart when Ryan Haines, 33, was seen running from the area. The officer chased then apprehended him.

Video surveillance from Walmart showed Haines setting the fires. He faces charges of attempted arson in connection to the Walmart fire.
