MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Rainy weather and cold temperatures did not slow Senator Joe Manchin’s Motorcycle Tour across the state ahead of Election Day.

Manchin’s “Take Me Home Tour” made stops in Martinsburg Sunday evening and Monday morning before heading off for Morgantown, Fairmont, Bridgeport and Charleston.

Manchin, a life-long rider, did not seem to mind the conditions.

“It will be better. I think the rain is moving out and we’ll move on down and hit the middle of the state,” said Manchin. “We have some brave people out here. They’re some road warriors. We just wanted to do something different to bring attention to people basically. We’ve been campaigning all the way through the state, rode 384 miles.”

Manchin also reflected on his debate last Thursday against his opponent Attorney General Patrick Morrisey saying that he wished the focus would have stayed on the issues.

“It was a tough debate. I would have liked to (have) seen more civility in it so we could of just talked more about the issues,” said Manchin. “I’m fighting for pre-existing conditions so people don’t get thrown off. Patrick thinks there’s another way to do it and he has a lawsuit trying to get rid of it.”

Senator Manchin and his team will be in Charleston on election night as the results roll in.

“It’s basically in the hands of the people. I live on how they make a decision, I’ve always had,” said Manchin. “If they give me the chance to go back and represent them, I’ll do everything in my power to make them proud.”

We’ll have wall-to-wall Election night coverage Tuesday beginning at 7 pm on 93.7 FM and 1340 AM.
