Man in critical condition after fight leads to stabbing in Martinsburg

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — A man remains in critical condition after he was stabbed during a weekend altercation.

Police and EMS crews responded to the intersection of Arch Street and Capital Drive in the Capital Heights neighborhood of Martinsburg at 9 Saturday night.

On scene, they found James Salliez, 22 of Martinsburg, sitting on a curb near the site of the fight. He was transported to Berkeley Medical Center then flown to Inova Fairfax Hospital for treatment.

Wayne Ross, 25 of Martinsburg, was quickly identified as the suspect. He was caught and arrested by Martinsburg Police at the intersection of North Queen Street and Race Street.

The arrest was made approximately 40 minutes after the initial 911 call. The weapon was also recovered.

Ross has been charged with malicious wounding. He is being held at the Eastern Regional Jail on $30,000 bond.
