MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — The Martinsburg Police Department has named its first officer of the month award recipient for 2019.

Patrolman Roderick Holloway has been selected for the month of January, according to a release from the department.

Holloway has been with the MPD for two years and is also member of the department’s honor guard.

“Roderick Holloway is a team player who his fellow officers can always count on,” said Martinsburg Police Chief Maury Richards. “He works hard, steps up to take on challenges, and always gets the job done.  Roderick is a leader who makes a positive difference in our Department and in our community.”

It was also noted that Holloway assisted in the apprehension of a group who broke into the Wendy’s on Foxcroft Avenue on December 27th. Holloway said he enjoys helping with the community and interacting with people.

“When you get out of the car, you can talk to people…or maybe just go up to  a bunch of kids in the street and throw a football around.  Some kid will shout, ‘Wow…that cop just threw me a ball!’—and then you get to see the look on his face.  It’s awesome.”
