Man accused of carjacking, killing elderly Martinsburg woman to be monitored during hospitalization

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — A Berkeley County judge ruled Monday a Martinsburg man accused of murder in a carjacking incident will continue to be monitored while receiving treatment.

A hearing was scheduled earlier this month for 36-year-old Adam Lee Domer, but it was continued after he was sent to a Morgantown hospital for a “medical emergency.”

Domer is reportedly paralyzed from the waist down after complaining about pain while being held at the Eastern Regional Jail.

In court, it was said that Domer has been transferred to a city hospital and is currently on antibiotics.

He is to receive treatment until mid-December and could be later transferred to a rehab facility.

The county will continue to monitor Domer via ankle device along with a guard outside of his room.

Domer allegedly attacked 86-year-old Joan Staubs on September 2 where she suffered serious head injuries leading to her death.

He is facing multiple charges including murder, malicious wounding, and grand larceny.
