Charles Town Middle locked down after loud noise, authorities give the “all clear”

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. — A Jefferson County middle school was temporarily locked down following a scare.

Jefferson County deputies and the Charles Town Police Department responded Wednesday morning after reports of a loud noise outside of the school believed to be a gunshot. Officers searched the property and were given the “all clear” at around 9:20 a.m.

Authorities and school officials are still investigating the source of the loud noise.
