CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. — It was an eventful weekend for new  District 65 Delegate Sammi Brown.

Brown was sworn in at the state capitol building in Charleston over the weekend for the West Virginia House of Delegates.

She defeated Jill Upson for that seat in last months General Election.

Brown said the feeling of being sworn in was surreal.

“I was nervous actually. There were a lot of butterflies going into the whole thing then you have this moment of this is real now,” said Brown. “But then, I step on the floor and place my hand on the bible and it was home. I knew this was exactly where we needed to be.”

She added that this is a volatile time for her community as many issues need to be worked on but she is ready to serve her constituents.
