Former Berkeley County school personnel scheduled to appear in court on abuse charges

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Three former Berkeley Heights Elementary School employees are scheduled to appear in a Berkeley County courtroom on Monday.

Christina Victoria Lester, June Elizabeth Yurish and Kristin Lynn Douty have each been charged with a misdemeanor count of failure to report suspected abuse and neglect. Each individual allegedly conducted verbal and physical abused in a special-needs classroom last fall.

Amber Pack, the parent of a then 6 year-old student who is non-verbal, hid a recording device in the hair of her daughter, which captured the voice of someone saying “I’m going to punch you in the face” and “shut up.”

Pack’s daughter, Adri, was in the class with two other students.

Lester was a teacher at the institution, and Yurish and Douty were teacher’s aides.
