Woman Found Dead in Hagerstown City Park

 HAGERSTOWN, MD — Police in Hagerstown are investigating after a woman was found dead at Hagerstown City Park. Police are investigating it as a homicide.

Hagerstown Police Department Baker Platoon Commander Lt. Rebecca Fetchu tells the Panhandle News Network the call came in Friday around 5:50 in the morning.
” Officers of the Hagerstown Police Department responded to the Hagerstown City Park at the Jonathan Hager House for a report of a deceased person. A 37 year old female from Hagerstown was located inside a stone alcove beneath the porch of the house.”

The victim, whose name has not been released, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The incident is being investigated as an apparent homicide.
“The victim had been known to sleep at this location and we believe it likely that the suspect and victim were known to one another,” according to Fetchu

“We will not be releasing the name of the victim pending notification of proper next of kin. In addition, in order to protect the integrity of the investigation we will not be releasing any further details including the manner of death.”
