MARTINSBURG, W.Va. – Some top brass will be in town Friday when the 167th Airlift Wing rededicates a hangar that has been largely out of service since 2018.
Maj. Gen. Bill Crane, The Adjutant General of West Virginia Guard, will join leaders from the West Virginia Air National Guard to host a ribbon cutting ceremony for the completion of upgrades to Hangar 305 at Shepherd Air National Guard Base in Martinsburg, West Virginia.
A press release from the West Virginia Guard reports that Hangar 305, dedicated to fuel system maintenance and repair, was closed in 2018 after “foundational cracks and damage caused by inadequate vertical structures” were discovered.”
“Construction has been ongoing since 2022 and will ensure that the 167th Airlift Wing can safely provide fuel cell maintenance for the Wing’s C-17 Globemaster III fleet.”
Cost for the construction was $5,765,606.
That dedication is set for between 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Friday, April 5, 2024 on the base at Shepherd Air National Guard Base in Martinsburg.
