UPDATE – One contractor dead after Martin’s Potato Rolls building collapse

CHAMBERSBURG, PA — A building contractor reportedly has died after a building collapse in Chambersburg.

It happened Tuesday afternoon at a construction site at Martin’s Famous Pastry Shoppe plant off Wayne Road south of Chambersburg, fire company officials said.

An EMS worker tells the Panhandle News Network that a missing construction worker was found deceased around 9 last night.  The individual had reportedly been working on the construction of a new bakery line at the facility.

The Herald Mail quotes a spokeswoman as saying the plant had “some construction issues” just after 2 p.m. Tuesday.

“Several newly erected walls collapsed; these walls are part of our new construction area and they are not connected to our production facility,” according to
Julie Martin, the company’s social media manager “All Martin’s employees are accounted for at this time; none were in the construction area when the walls collapsed.”
