The Hagerstown Police Department Used Drones, Thermal Imaging To Track Down Suspected Burglars

HAGERSTOWN, MD — The Hagerstown Police Department is using drones and thermal imaging to catch burglars.

This week, the department released footage they say shows suspects on the roof of businesses off Garland Groh Road.
Police were alerted August 4th around 1:30 in the morning after several burglar alarms went off in businesses in the shopping center.
The called for drone support.
The drone’s thermal imaging located five individuals hiding on the roof of one of the businesses. The drone video shows some suspects fleeing into a wooded area, where police were able to catch up to them.

The following individuals were charged:
Dashon Lowery age 18 of Hagerstown.
Jeremiah Reed age 18 of Hagerstown
One 16 year old female
One 17 year old female
One 17 year old male

HPD extends its thanks to the  Hagerstown Fire Department, WCSO and MSP for their assistance on the incident.  “Fantastic work done by our officers including the drone operator and our K9 team!”
