John J.B. McCuskey, Republican. McCuskey is an attorney and the current State Auditor. Prior to being elected auditor in 2016, he served two terms in the House of Delegates.

Mike Stuart, Republican. Stuart is the former U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of West Virginia and a current member of the state Senate, representing Kanawha.

Don Blankenship, Democrat. Blankenship is the former CEO of Massey Energy. He spent a year in prison after he was convicted of conspiring to violate federal mine safety and health standards at the Upper Big Branch Mine, where 29 miners were killed in an explosion in April 2010. He ran for Senate in 2018 as a Republican and for president in 2020 as a member of the Constitution Party.
