BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. — The “Stand With Ukraine Through Film” campaign is coming to the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia for a regional film event in August. The Ukrainian film The Guide, a two-hour dramatic film produced by acclaimed Ukrainian Director Oles Sanin in 2014, which is set against Soviet efforts to exterminate the Ukrainian people in the 1930s through starvation and other policies. It was selected as the Ukrainian entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 87th Academy Awards and will be playing around the region throughout the month.
It airs on August 11 at 8:00 p.m., Star Theatre, Berkeley Springs, WV, tickets are $10
Then moves to the Opera House in Shepherdstown August 12 at 3:30, tickets are pay what you can price. Anton Greene, the young co-star will be part of a virtual Q&A after the film.
And then finally August 26th at 7PM at the Apollo Civic Theater in Martinsburg. Tickets will be $15 for that event.
This film project has raised more than $150,000 for Ukraine, according to Cinema Salem’s Marshall Strauss, who organized the release of the film as a fundraiser in the United States.
