Rabid Raccoon Confirmed in Inwood

INWOOD, W.Va. —  The Berkeley County Health Department has issued a Rabies Alert for the Platt Mountain Lane/Sulphur Springs Road area of Inwood.

The notice was posted Friday when the health department was notified of a positive lab result for the rabies virus from a raccoon in the area.

If you or someone you know has come into contact with the animal in question, please call the health department at (304) 267-7130.

Residents are reminded to keep rabies vaccines up to date for their pets and to avoid direct contact with wildlife.
