Primary Election Delegate/Senatorial Wrap in the Panhandle

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — As the dust settles in the 2022 primary in the Mountain State, here are some results from the Eastern Panhandle.

In the Republican Primary for the 16th Senatorial District, Jason Barrett defeated Renee Wibly and will likely face Democrat Hannah Geffert in the General Election. Geffert was appointed to that post after John Unger left the senate to fill a magistrate seat in Berkeley County.

Meanwhile, Unger and Darrell Shull were unopposed in their bid to be re-elected as magistrates.

In the state House of Delegates primaries, George Miller defeated Ken Reed in a district that straddled both Morgan and Berkeley Counties.

John Hardy defeated Alonzo Perry II to move on to the general election for the District 97 seat. In District 94, Larry Kump got a nearly 67 percent advantage over his opponents Ryan Hammond and Janet McMNulty.

In Jefferson County, Bill Ridenour won a tight Republican primary over two other Harpers Ferry candidates, Pasha Majdi and Steve Harris for District 100’s primary race.

The other races saw candidates unopposed in their primaries.
