Police discover malnourished dogs in Hedgesville

HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. — A search of a home in Hedgesville over the weekend led to the discovery of multiple malnourished dogs.

Morgan County Sheriff K.C. Bohrer and the Morgan County Animal Control began an investigation into animal cruelty at 611 Coon Hollow Road.

Police collected weapons, ammunition, items used to train dogs for fighting and electronic communications devices in the raid.

Authorities say the same home was searched in 2014 after an investigation of dog fighting and illegal gambling that originated out of Baltimore, Maryland.

Animal control received assistance removing the dogs from an animal rescue organization from Maryland.
