Point in Time Survey rescheduled

WVCEHMARTINSBURG, W.Va. — The Point in Time Count (PIT) of the Homeless has been rescheduled for February 2nd at 4 pm until February 3rd at 3:59 pm.

The annual count is a HUD required reporting event performed by every Continuum of Care in the State and across the country on one night.

Street Outreach/Assessment Worker, West Virginia Coalition to End Homelessness Jason Mansfield said last month the count of all unsheltered and sheltered homeless individuals and families is vital to assessing need and leveraging resources to prevent and end homelessness in West Virginia.

“With those numbers we’re able to give HUD an idea of how great the need is here,” Masnfield said. “We’re able to really garner more services and help folks out better.”

They are looking for volunteers to help conduct the count.

“Folks are going to actually walk out into the county,” Mansfield said. “They’re going to bring the information back to us so we can help them [the homeless] out.”
