Motorist Dies Following Crash in Charles Town

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. — Police in Charles Town say two motorists seemed to be uninjured after a crash Tuesday, but one of them later died.

On March 14th, at approximately 6:50 a.m., officers with the Charles Town Police Department responded to a motor vehicle crash on East Washington Street in the vicinity of Jefferson Avenue, according to a release from the department.
“During the course of the investigation, it was determined that a GMC pickup truck was stopped in traffic due to a red traffic signal when a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck failed to conform with the flow of traffic and struck the GMC,” the release said.  “The Toyota then traveled off the right side of the roadway where it struck a guy wire, flipping it onto its side.”
When officers arrived on scene, both drivers were out of their respective vehicles and advised there were no injuries.

“A short time later, the driver of the Toyota experienced a medical emergency at the scene requiring EMS response and subsequent transport to a medical facility where he passed.”
Charles Town PD says the investigation is ongoing.
