CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A day after the pollster in charge of the MetroNews West Virginia Poll corrected Republican gubernatorial candidate Patrick Morrisey’s polling numbers, the candidate said he appreciated the correction.
Morrisey began questioning the validity of the poll on Friday, the day the poll results were published. He said the numbers did not match numbers his campaign was seeing.
Morrisey spoke on Panhandle Live with Marsha Chwalik a day after the results of the poll were corrected to reflect Morrisey’s support among Republicans is 27 percent.
The MetroNews West Virginia Poll had previously reported 23 percent.
He said the inaccurate numbers caused his campaign harm.
The leader among candidates for governor, according to the West Virginia Poll, was Moore Capito, the House Judiciary chairman and son of U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito, with 32 percent. That percentage of support did not change in the reassessed poll data.
