Maryland man pleads guilty to robbing Berkeley Springs bank

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. — A Thurmont, Maryland man has admitted to robbing a Morgan County bank.

On June 5, Berkeley Springs Police responded to the City National Bank at 149 W. Washington Street. After a manhunt spanning more than four days, 49 year-old Steven Silverman was arrested in connection to the crime.

According to police, Silverman stole $1,730.

U.S. Attorney Bill Powell announced Wednesday that Silverman pleaded guilty in federal court to one count of bank robbery.

Silverman faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
