Martinsburg’s Mayor Hospitalized in Northern Virginia for Undisclosed Medical Condition

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Martinsburg Mayor Harriet Johnson is reportedly hospitalized at INOVA Fairfax after suffering an undisclosed medical emergency.

The City of Martinsburg released a statement Tuesday afternoon saying they have no additional information to provide other than that the mayor was taken to a local hospital Sunday and then transported to INOVA, where the statement says she is “currently being treated and evaluated.”

City Council plans to discuss how the mayor’s duties and responsibilities can be handled during her recovery at their regularly scheduled meeting this Thursday.

In the meantime, the statement says “the routine business and operations of the City of Martinsburg continue.”

The statement expresses hope that the community will keep Mayor Johnson and her husband Tom in their thoughts and prayers.
