from a Martinsburg Vape shop Tuesday (March 14th) as the Martinsburg Police Task Force and MPD Officers carried
out a search warrant.

Police Chief George Swartwood said it happened at 4:20 in the afternoon at the Vape and Tobacco Outlet located at 305 N.
Queen Street.

“Members of the Eastern Panhandle Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force along with officers of the Martinsburg Police Department’s CIRT, SRT and Patrol officers executed a search warrant mainly for illicit drugs,” according to Chief Swartwood.  He says Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation as well and utilized their K9 during the search.

Seized in the search were contraband and illicit items that contained marijuana, including

775 Vapes
20 Pre-Roll products
245 Edible Products
32 Leaf products

“The Vapes alone were estimated at $50.00 each for a total of $38,750.00,” according to Swartwood.
Also seized was suspected illicit currency derived “from the sale of said items,” including approximately
$21,000.00 in cash and $10,000.00 in coin.

One adult and one juvenile were arrested.

“This was an ongoing investigation spearheaded by the Eastern Panhandle Drugs and Violent Crimes Task
Force with the complete cooperation of the Martinsburg Police Department.”  Chief Swartwood says his department ” had received complaints of the establishment allegedly selling THC and Nicotine products to minors as well.”

Chief Swartwood said “This was a complete team effort between members of the Task Force and MPD in
bringing this part of the investigation to fruition. This type of professional police work can only be
deemed as outstanding and continuing.”
Martinsburg authorities are taking steps to contact the owner of the building to make them aware of
these developments and take corrective measures as needed.
