Jefferson County High Schools on Remote this Week as County Hits Red on COVID-19 Map; Berkeley County “Riding the Fence”

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. — Jefferson County’s Active Cases are 211 as of Sunday’s report. That’s 50 more active COVID-19 cases than the county had logged on Thursday.

Both Jefferson and Washington High Schools will be on remote learning this week. That means no high school sports will take place.

Meanwhile, Berkeley County is orange on the state map, and as one health officer put it, “riding the fence.” Berkeley County has 465 active cases, a number which has been ticking up over the last week.

Morgan County is green on the state map and has 38 active cases; their cases have been on a pretty steady decrease. However, Morgan County Schools announced this week that two staff members, one at
Widmyer Elementary School and another at Warm Springs Intermediate School have been identified as positive for COVID-19. The school system reports contact tracing has been completed for both cases and said school would be in session Monday.
