BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. – Morgan County’s new Intermediate Court of Appeals will be celebrated
with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at next week.
It’s set for 3 p.m. Wednesday, December 7 in the County Commission Chambers in the Morgan County
The new Morgan County satellite courtroom that will be
used by the Intermediate Court of Appeals of West Virginia (ICA).Courthouse, 77 Fairfax Street, Berkeley Springs.
Morgan County Commissioner Sean Forney, ICA Chief Judge Dan Greear, ICA Judges
Tom Scarr and Charles Lorensen, and Supreme Court Chief Justice John Hutchison will
attend.

The ICA began operating July 1, 2022. The three ICA Judges use a courtroom in the
West Virginia Judicial Tower in Charleston. Litigants have the choice of traveling to
Charleston for proceedings or using one of five satellite courtrooms around the state.
Tours will be given of the new ICA courtroom, including a demonstration of the webcast
system between the satellite courtroom and the main ICA courtroom in Charleston.
The other satellite courtrooms are in Petersburg in Grant County, Weston in Lewis
County, Beckley in Raleigh County, and New Martinsville in Wetzel County.
Each satellite courtroom
is in a space dedicated to the ICA, has video conferencing equipment that provides a secure connection to the Charleston
ICA courtroom, has furniture built by Herbert Hoover High School students, and
has a bailiff who will be present during all proceedings.
