Horst Takes Helm at Stubblefield Institute

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W Va. — The Stubblefield Institute has a new director.

Shepherd Universit has announced fundraising and marketing expert Ashley Horst will serve as director of The Bonnie and Bill Stubblefield Institute for Civil Political Communications at Shepherd University, beginning September 26, 2022.

Since 2008, the Shepherd alumna has served in various fundraising, marketing, and communications roles for Hospice of the Panhandle, a not-for-profit providing hospice and palliative care to residents of the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia.

In addition to her work at Hospice, Horst has volunteered in the region for more than a decade, including United Way of the Eastern Panhandle, Eastern West Virginia Community Foundation, and the Association of Fundraising Professionals (Virginia Tri-State Chapter). She holds a B.A. in mass communications with a minor in sociology from Shepherd University and an M.A. in communications, culture, and technology from Georgetown University.

Established in 2019 thanks to a generous gift from Drs. Bill and Bonnie Stubblefield, the Stubblefield Institute serves as an active center for the study and promotion of civil political discourse, authentic and constructive debate, and positive civic engagement.
