Homeland Security Looking for Heroic Snow Stories

Homeland SecurityKEARNEYSVILLE, W.Va. — As Jefferson County Homeland Security and Emergency Management is wrapping up operations following snow storm, we are looking for stories of unsung heroism in Jefferson County.

If you have been positively impacted by a police officer, firefighter, EMT, National Guard member, or a fellow citizen, they want to hear about it.

Type up an explanation of their heroism in a word document including pictures if possible.

Exceptional examples of heroism in Jefferson County will be included in their monthly newsletter.

Barbara Miller, the Director of Jefferson County Homeland Security and Emergency Management, said “Prior to the storm, we asked citizens to check on and help their neighbors and loved ones, as we expected emergency services to become overwhelmed as the result of this storm.  Volunteers throughout the county assisted others in our community.  Neighbors helped neighbors, families helped families, and strangers were assisted by people that they didn’t even know in some cases. This is the true spirit of Jefferson County, and each and every one of you are appreciated.”

Heroic accounts can be sent to Brandon Vallee, the Jefferson County Homeland Security and Emergency Management Public Information Officer, at [email protected].
