High Wind Advisory in Effect Today for Eastern Panhandle

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — There is a high wind advisory today through 2 a.m. Saturday for the listening area.

The National Weather Service in Baltimore says to expect Northwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 60 mph.

The advisory area includes Western Maryland and Northern Virginia as well as West Virginia’s Eastern Panhandle.

Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines.
Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

The weather service says folks should avoid being outside in forested areas and around trees and branches. If possible, remain in the lower levels of
your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Use caution if
you must drive.
