Garage Fire on Williamsport Pike Sunday Knocked Down by Numerous Fire Crews

FALLING WATERS, W.Va. — Multiple local fire crews responded on Sunday to a massive garage fire off Williamsport Pike.

The Baker Heights Volunteer Fire Department gave the recap on a post this week, recalling that they were alerted around 7:30 Sunday eventing to the fire off the 3090 block of Williamsport PIke.

“Engine 62 arrived first, laying a supply line out in Williamsport Pike. Handlines were stretched and ultimately,” according to the post. “The decision was made to use the deck gun to knock down the bulk of the fire.”

“Afterwards, crews worked to remove the contents of the structure and hit the previously hidden hotspots. Foam was applied at the end,” according to the fire department’s post.

The scene was cleared just after 10 p.m.

Fire and smoke could be seen as far as Washington County in Maryland as well as neighboring Jefferson County.

In addition to Baker Heights, crews responding included “Bedington Volunteer Fire Department and Hedgesville Volunteer Fire Company, for a garage fire. Engine 62 responded with 4 ( 3 Berkeley County Professional Firefighters Local 5045 and 1 volunteer). Engine 61 responded with 3 volunteers,” according to the post.
