MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Multiple area fire crews worked over a three day period to put a fire out in the Entsorga West Virginia plant in Martinsburg.
According to a post from the Baker Heights Volunteer Fire Department,
The fire at 119 Recovery Way was in the ‘pit,’ or the area that contained garbage that had been stockpiled as the company was making fuel. “The large pit is approximately 80’ wide and roughly 350’ long. ”
Enstorga shuttered its doors in April, but according to the fire company, it was almost completely full of trash, or raw materials for its fuel.
“…the pit is approximately 20′ – 30′ deep with fuel across the entire pit,” according to the report from Baker Heights VFD. “512,000 cubic feet of ”fuel” on the low end of the estimated depth.”
The fire crews say there was a visible flame and heat each time they’ve been called out. The fire appears to be extinguished as of now, but fire crews are continuing to monitor it.

Entsorga opened its doors in 2019 but has had trouble finding a buyer for its fuel product, prompting the decision to close earlier this year.
