Fatal Motorcycle Accident in Hagerstown Monday

HAGERSTOWN, MD — An accident in Hagerstown Monday has claimed a life.  Hagerstown Police say they were called to the intersection of West Wilson Avenue and Virginia Avenue around 12:20 in the afternoon to a collision involving a motorcycle and a 4 door sedan.

“The rider of the motorcycle, later identified as Francis Walter age (age 35 of Hagerstown), was transported to Meritus Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased,” according to a press release from HPD. “The driver of the car remained on scene and was assessed by CRS for minor injuries.”

The rider of the motorcycle was traveling eastbound through the intersection and the driver of the car was making a left turn southbound on to Virginia Ave from W. Wilson Blvd.

An accident reconstructionist was called to the scene and this is an ongoing investigation. The driver of the car is not being identified at this time, pending the outcome of the investigation.
