MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — An elderly woman died in a fire in Berkeley County over the weekend.
The victim, 84, of Martinsburg, was trapped in her home in the 500 block of Berry Street when the blaze began at around 6:30 p.m. Friday. The state Fire Marshal’s Office said two young children were able to escape the burning house.
The fire has been ruled accidental in nature, according to the West Virginia Fire Marshal’s Office.
The victim’s body has been sent to the state Medical Examiner’s Office for positive identification.
