MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Affordable Housing will be the topic of a special meeting Friday.
The Eastern Panhandle Health and Human Services Collaborative (HHSC) will be talking about how to solve the growing affordable housing issues in the area during its quarterly meeting on Friday, September 9, from 9:00 – 11:00 via Zoom. The public is invited to attend.
The meeting kicks off the HHSC’s campaign to address the need for affordable housing in the Eastern Panhandle.

Hagedorn says at fair market value for a one-bedroom house in Berkeley County, a minimum wage earner would have a hard time keeping up:
Daniel Eades from WVU Extension, will discuss housing studies he has conducted throughout WV, and Karen Jacobson, from the Randolph County Housing Authority, will share how the housing authority used information from their study to develop innovative approaches to address affordable housing in their community.
Mr. Eades is an Associate Professor and Extension Specialist with West Virginia University. He works in the areas of rural economics and rural development. His community-based research and teaching programs engage local leaders and community development stakeholders in the use of socio-economic data to guide community planning and regional economic development decisions. Ms. Jacobson served as the Executive Director of the Randolph County Housing Authority from 2007-2021Ms. Jacobson continues to serve as a part-time Project Manager at RCHA.

The Health and Human Services Collaborative, an initiative of the Family Resource Network of the Panhandle, brings together broad representation from Berkeley, Jefferson, and Morgan Counties to identify and achieve solutions enhance the well-being of children, families, and their communities.
