DHHR confirms fourth Berkeley County COVID-19 death

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — The West Virginia DHHR confirms an 82 year-old Berkeley County man has died from COVID-19.

“We are deeply saddened to report another death of a West Virginian. We send our sympathies to this family,” DHHR Secretary Bill Crouch said.

It’s the 52nd death in West Virginia.

The state’s positive test rate is at 2.22 percent heading into the weekend. The DHHR said 59,567 tests have been conducted with 1,323 coming back positive for COVID-19 and 58,244 of the tests coming back with a negative reading.

Hospitalizations for the coronavirus are down in West Virginia. The DHHR said there are now 53 residents being treated in hospitals with only 13 patients in ICU. Seven patients are being treated on ventilators.
