Delinquent Tax Payments Cannot Be Received Locally after October 31st

MARTINSBURG. W.Va. —  If you don’t pay your county property taxes by Monday, you can’t pay them locally after that.

A reminder from the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office says because of state code 11-A-3-2, local tax collectors cannot accept payment after October 31st for unpaid 2021 real estate taxes.

Instead, effective November 1st, payments must be sent to the state auditor’s office in Charleston.

Call your local sheriff’s TAX OFFICE for questions. After Monday, those accounts will be handled by the West Virginia Auditor’s Office at (304) 558-2262.
